Police officers in Kakamega County arrested two suspected drug peddlers in a major operation aimed at curbing the sale and distribution of narcotic drugs and illicit brews in the region.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, was carried out by officers from Nangili Police Station within Nangili market.

During the raid, police officers found the suspects in possession of 64 rolls of cannabis, 50 grams of loose cannabis, and Sh7,500, which is believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS), the operation was part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal substances and criminal activities undermining public safety.

In addition, police recovered assorted equipment used in the preparation of drugs, suggesting that the suspects were not only distributing but also possibly processing the substances before sale.

The NPS said the suspects were escorted to Nangili Police Station, where they were booked in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

The exhibits were secured at the station as part of the ongoing investigations and preparation for legal proceedings.

The service commended the officers involved for their professionalism, efficiency, and responsiveness in tackling the drug menace that continues to affect communities across parts of the county.

“The National Police Service commends the officers for their professionalism, efficiency, and responsiveness to the needs of the public, as well as for their accountability and transparency,” read part of the NPS statement.

The arrest marks another proactive measure by law enforcement officers in their commitment to address issues of drug abuse, illicit trade, and public disorder.

The NPS noted that such operations reflect its ongoing efforts to promote community safety and uphold the rule of law.
